With the recent Fed rate cuts, Wells Fargo has lowered their rates on their online CD special to 3.50% APY. Minimum balance on this certificate is $5,000, and the term to maturity is 5 months.

At maturity, CD will automatically renew for the Renewal Term stated above, at the interest rate and APY in effect for CDs not subject to a Special Rate, unless the Bank has notified you otherwise.

This CD is only available online and not through brick and mortar Wells Fargo Banks.

Wells Fargo is a well known brick and mortar bank. Unfortunately, their CD rates are a bit lower than the highest CD rates available. Currently the Wells Fargo website is offering two special CD rate promotions at 4.90% 3 month and 5.00% 6 month certificate of deposits. These rates are decent, but nowhere near the top CD rates.

Their other rates range from 2.00% APY on the low end to 4.20 on the high end. I would recommend shopping around and comparing CDs before choosing Wells Fargo. Realistically the only reason you might choose Wells Fargo CDs are for convenience or because you feel that the other banks are not safe. However, almost all online banks are FDIC insured for up to $100,000.
